From 1 July 2025, Western Australian households will be eligible for a battery rebate of up to $16,000, making it significantly more affordable to invest in solar energy storage. If you’re considering adding a battery to your solar system, now is the ideal time to begin planning.
What is the Federal Government Solar Battery Rebate?
The Australian federal government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program is offering an upfront discount of around 30% on eligible battery systems. The Government currently has incentives such as the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) to support the installation of rooftop solar. This SRES will be expanded by the Cheaper Home Batteries Program to provide a discount on home batteries (from 5 to 50kWh) connected to solar PV systems.
So for example, if you were to purchase a 10kWh battery that costs $12,000, you would receive an estimated discount of $3,600.
Please note: Only systems installed on or after 1 July 2025 are eligible. Installations prior to this date will not qualify.

Why Act Now?
Even though installations must occur on or after 1 July 2025, we strongly recommend buying your battery early due to expected supply constraints. Many customers are already placing their orders to secure stock and schedule installation after the rebate begins.
With high demand expected, we anticipate limited battery stock and a shortage of skilled installers, so securing your system early is the best way to avoid delays.
